Welcome Coach Chris, Speech-Language Pathologist
Qi Creative welcomes Christopher Anderson, Speech-Language Pathologist, to the Qi Creative Team!
About Christopher
Christopher is a Speech-Language Pathologist with a Master's degree from the University of Alberta. His academic background includes linguistics, psychology, English literature, and philosophy. As an SLP, he focuses on play-based learning, echolalia, and gestalt language processing theory, while promoting relationship-based and interest-based communication opportunities.
Christopher has received specialized training in the SCERTS model, Hanen More Than Words, and the Natural Language Acquisition model for echolalia and gestalt language learning. He values advocacy as a crucial aspect of his profession and actively seeks to learn from inclusion advocates about neurodiversity and cultural/linguistic diversity.
While there are many reasons behind most things (see philosophy studies above), Christopher would say he came to the SLP profession primarily out of gratitude. The things he has treasured most throughout his life: stories, music, choral singing, learning how things work, and sharing his interests with others, all have deep roots in communicating with others. Helping clients build a positive self-identity and achieve access to a rich and satisfying life are at the heart of Christopher's SLP philosophy.
When he's not working, you may find Christopher snuggling his cats (Pennifer, Fergus, and Toast), exploring new hobbies through YouTube deep dives, playing board games, role-playing games, and Magic: The Gathering, enjoying a backyard fire, playing video games, napping, or worrying (anxious friends, I see you).
Letβs give a warm welcome to Christopher, as he joins our team in creating awesome across Alberta!
